Here are my top tips for creating a welcoming space for sleep
- Create a peaceful and calming environment in your bedroom that will help you relax easily into a restful night’s sleep. Do this by making sure your mattress and pillow are suited to your bodies needs to make it comfortable and to help avoid aches and pains which can be caused by not enough support.
- Invest in bedding that feels comfortable to touch and will maintain a comfortable temperature during the night.
- Black out curtains or blinds are a good investment to help keep noise and light from outside to a minimum. I wear a sleep mask to help prevent excess light disturbing me and find it helps.
- If you live in an area where outside noise can be disturbing it may be worth investing in Earplugs or headphones to help stop abrasive sounds from bothering.
- If you are too hot or too cold it can be difficult to fall asleep easily, while the ideal temperature can differ between people most research suggests sleeping in a cooler room around 65 degrees.
An essential oil diffuser in my bed room has been a staple for years, and has helped me through period of insomnia. Certain scents are calming and can help ease you into sleep. Essential oils such as lavender, Chamomile, Frankincense and Bergamot can provide a soothing and fresh smell in the bed room.
